Leading Japanese flat knitting and glove knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki has launched a brand new electronically controlled version of its legendary SFG series glove knitting machine. The SFG-I is available in 10, 13, 15 and 18 gauges and in sizes M, L, L2 and L3.

Thirty jobs have been saved at a UK based knitwear manufacturer after the company was bought from administrators. Historic Manchester Hosiery, a 106 year old company based in Hinckley, Leicestershire has been sold to a Hong Kong business which has pledged to keep manufacturing in the town.

Taiwan's upgrades its hosiery industry

Amid growing globalization of trade and in an increasingly competitive market with ever-lower retail prices, Taiwan's textile sector, including its hosiery sector is said to have been hit hard. Luo Li-qing, director of Taiwan’s Hosiery Industry Development Center (HIDC), told The China Post recently that the country’s hosiery industry is facing stiff challenges and requires upgrading.
